Underberg self catering with the best views! Visit us for your farm stay in the Drakensberg mountains
We have sheep, cattle and horses (bring carrots if you want the horses to love you).
We often see eland that have come
down from our neighbouring Parks Board mountains to drink from the Mzimude river. We sometimes see (and hear) baboons in the gorge and reed
buck in our fields. Most nights we hear jackals howling but we don't often see
them. Our farm is 90 ha and has a circumference of about 5 km, so
bring your walking shoes. Also bring your swimming costume (unless you prefer to skinny dip) because we have a dam and over a kilometer of Mzimude river frontage. There are bass in the dam and trout in the river, so bring your rods if you enjoy fishing.
But, most importantly, bring your camera!
We are "off the grid" so no Eskom load shedding here!
We have two cottages on our farm, luxurious Hilltop Cottage and small Shepherd's Cottage. The cottages are about 350m apart. Both have openview satellite TV (not DSTV), built in braais and wood burning stoves (we provide complementary firewood). Neither cottage offers WiFi (although there is intermittent MTN and Vodacom signal). Shepherds cottage does not have the spectacular Drakensberg mountain views that Hilltop Cottage has. Instead it has a beautiful view of the rolling hills of the Drakensberg foothills.
Our cottages are pet friendly (securely fenced). If you bring your pets please let us know in advance. We ask that you do not go out and leave your pets unattended at the cottage and that you clean up after them.
